2015 WSIA SUMMIT IN THE SNOW RECAP.

We have just returned from the ninth annual Water Sports Industry Association’s (WSIA) 2015 “Summit In The Snow” event in Steamboat Springs, Colorado! Nearly 200 industry members came together for three days to network and discuss common industry challenges.

Our mornings were filled with face shots of fresh powder on the mountain (Steamboat Resort got 19” new inches of snow in the first day!) and meaningful chairlift meetings with several of our industry partners and icons. Afternoons consisted of educational seminars spanning from committee meetings to a mock trial presented by Rietz Law Firm with a full courtroom proceeding over a fictitious case involving a major water sports injury.

Monday night we were graced by a keynote delivered by US Olympic gold medalist, Dick Fosbury, who invented the “Fosbury Flop” as a high jumper, which is widely recognized and has changed the sport of high jumping forever.

Tuesday we had the pleasure of going on a mountain snowmobile tour with our partners at Southeastern Foundries and attending the country-western themed dinner at the top of the mountain with gondola rides and live music.

Wednesday morning’s breakfast and WSIA Leadership Awards highlighted the top retailers, dealers and camps and schools in the industry all while honoring former WSIA executive director, Larry Meddock.

The “Summit In The Snow” proved to be a great event for making progress in our industry and creating memorable and lasting relationships! We can’t wait to go back again next year!
